It's there because they put it there. Dissolved carbon dioxide is carbonic acid, which adds a ... longer.  they stay in solution. When beverages get warm, the gas molecules have more energy and leave more quickly, and the soda gets flat faster.

    Chilled cold drink has CO2 .. it does not have more CO2 than cold drink at room temperature.  CO2 is dissolved in the drink.  As the gas gives bubbles in the drink.  Some effervescence effects can be observed.  The gas gives some sensations while drinking and after drinking.
