WHY CHROMOSOME NUMBER IS EQUAL IN EVERY GENERATION ??????

Meiosis allows each sex cell to have 1/2 the number of chromosomes. Therefore, when the two cells fuse, the number of chromosomes are maintained. Chromosome number is related to species. Crossing over and random assortment of chromosomes are two significant happenings of meiosis.
