THe river gangas' delta being very fertile and around it brahmaputra flows forming if not one of the most fertile deltas, the ganga brahmaputra delta.
Thus the land being very fertile as the river brings down rich sediments al through the journey along with its 5 tributaries contributing to the sediments. these sediments contain essential nutrients for crop growth and even water wya transport for trading is important and during monsoon the ganga floods its bank thus helping boats travel, flourishing trade and even filling the land around it with water and its sediments.
Thus many people and farmers have settled from along time ago there, thus forming the cities.
