Because their government announced sinhala as the national language and gives more inportance to sri lankan tamils so indian tamils think that the government was not giving any attention towards them so they breakout a civil war to get another separated country in north east part of sri lanka

The civil war broke out in Sri Lanka because of the distrust between the two communities . As a result thousands of people of people of both the communities have been killed. Many people had to leave the country as refugees and some lost their likelihood.
