A clinical thermomerer cannot be used to measure high temperature because it has been designed to measure only human body temperature which varies over a short range. If it is used to measure high air temperature,it will get damaged. Hope you're clear.

Answer:

Clinical thermometer is made up of mercury and as it has lowest melting point , it is used to show the readings or temperature of our body and it us used to measure smaller range of temperature and it measures temperature only when it is in contact with our body and hence it cannot measure air temperature properly
