Why CO is formed in the chemical equation "ZnO(s) + C(s) ----> Zn(s) + CO(g) and carbon dioxide is not formed.

Hey Guys,
1) Balance the equation :-
= 2ZnO + C = 2Zn + CO2
Therefore Carbon dioxide is formed.
2) It is also redox reaction as both reduction and oxidation has taken place .
= 2ZnO is reduced to 2Zn and C is oxidised to CO2

Carbon can reduce ZnO to zinc metal with heat.
2 ZnO + C → 2 Zn + CO2
ZnO + CO → Zn + CO2
2 ZnO + C → 2 Zn + CO2
ZnO + CO → Zn + CO2
