In most of the countries colonizers wanted to make urban set up and in order to make connecting roads, housing societies, office, railway station, etc. they had to destroy forests or utilize the barren lands.
In fact colonizers wanted to improve the colonies to facilitate their business and related transactions. In the course of modernization they had to destroy forests.
