reasons of conflict
- In 1956 an act was passed by government which made Sinhala the official language of Sri Lanka
- govt favoured Sinhala speakers for government jobs and admission
- new constitution stated that govt shall protect Buddhism
- these laws made Tamil thaugh that govt is not in their favour
- they felt that govt and major parties doesn't care about their language and culture
- they felt discriminated by government
- Tamils made their own parties and fought for right to equilaty
- they launched strikes to fullfill their demands
- govt denied their demands
- then Tamils demanded for separate country
