Why convex mirror is used as the rear view mirror in vehicles?

it has large field of view so it enables us to see the objects behind us.the images are diminished and virtual and erect. so easier to see the traffic behind

❗❗It is used as a rear view mirror in automobiles, because it can cover a very wide area behind the driver, and hence, enables to see him the trafic behind, without turning his head. Plane mirror is not useful as a rear view mirror as its field is very small ❗❗
