First of all, you must know that India is not the most corrupt country. According to The Transparency International (TI) report of 2014, India is ranked 85 among 175 countries in the Corruption Perception Index (CPI). As a matter of fact, the position of India has improved slightly from the past year, with a score of 38, compared to 36 in 2013. Its ranking has also improved substantially from last year when it was placed at 94th position. Hence, we are better than 51.72% countries of the world.
Unfortunately, our media is full of stories of corruption and crime ignoring the good things that are happening in our country. This has resulted in many people believing that the government officers and politicians are most corrupt in the world, nothing moves in this country without bribes and there is no hope for getting rid of corruption. The public perception is fueled by the disproportionate coverage given by the media to the exceptionally corrupt officers while ignoring the countless honest officers and leaders in our country.
It is important to understand that corruption is linked to the economic development of the country, which can be measured by the per capita income (GDP) of the country.
