Helen could not contain her excitement and thrill because Christmas had turned out to be much more than Helen had conceived of. There was to be a gift for each child which delighted her and the pleasure of handing over the presents to the children served to whet her appetite for her own. She did not stop to look at her own gifts and when she was ready for them, her impatience for the real Christmas began to get almost beyond control. Helen knew that the gifts she had already received were not those of which her friends had thrown tantalizing hints for. Her teacher, Anne Sullivan said that the presents she was to have would be even nicer than these.
