covalent bonds are formed by sharing of electrons and are not to strong bond but ionic bonds are formed of strong electrostatic force of attraction.
secondly covalent bonds are not polar in nature while of ionic bonds are polar in nature

covalent compound do not conduct electricity because it is formed by sharing hence no charge is present and if there is no charge then they will not conduct elect.
whereas ionic compound only in their aqueous solution conduct elect. because they are formed by donation like nacl so when they are dissolved in water they disassociate and conduct electricity
