In a dictatorship, a single person holds supreme power.

He/she is regarded the ruler of the country.He/she can do whatever he/she wants. The will of the dictator is supreme. The dictator can execute anyone he/she likes to have executed.

While it may be good for some countries, especially ones with a good dictator, it highly undesired as it does not represent the will of the people. The people may not like what the dictator does, but have to follow his/her rules and regulations. They have to put up with the condemnations he/she does.

But in a democracy, the will of the people is supreme. They hold supreme power. They can choose who should lead them and who shouldn't. The elected reps. can make decisions for them. If someone does against the will of the people, he/she can be elected out of power in the next election. This way, the will of the political leaders is also motivated to serve the people, as they have to do good things to remain in power.

This is why democracy is better than dictatorship.
