A democratic form of government lays great emphasis on institutions as these edifices are a reflection of its basic ethos, like for instance the Indian parliament which works for the good of people through parliamentarians, who have been elected by the people, and thus are representatives of the people. The members of parliament raise and debate issues that are of importance for the welfare of the masses.
The cornerstone of a democracy are its free press, unbiased judicial system and the right to vote without fear or favour. India is proud to call itself a free, democratic country because of the seamless functioning of these institutions. If any of these institutions crumble, then our country will be doomed as a nation.
