Diamonds get their brilliance from three things: reflection, refraction and dispersion. Reflection is the light that hits the diamond and is immediately bounced back up, giving it an instantaneous shine.

mahendrasinghsaharan: hope it will help you dear
krishanu14: thanks brothor
krishanu14: refractive index of Diamond with respect to air is very high. so Critical Angle of Diamond with respect to air is very low only 24.5 degree diamond is cut in such a way that light rays incident on the internal surface of diamond at angle is greater than the critical angle suffer total internal reflection after several such reflection light emerge with negligible loss of brightness so Diamond appears to sparkle
mahendrasinghsaharan: yes
mahendrasinghsaharan: welcome

Hope this helps

Diamonds shine because of the reflection which takes place inside it when an incident light enters the diamond at all the faces or the sides the light strikes make it shine
