Anne thought of writing a diary because she had no real friends , although there were some school friends but she could not confident anything in them.
On her 13th birthday she got a diary from her father Otto Frank and started writing it and confiding her secrets in it .She also believed that "Paper is more patient that the people" because it never gets bored and never replies back .
Kitty(Diary) gradually became a source of comfort for her as it helped her to drain out all her stress.
This is why Anne decided to write a diary.
