Shah Jahan was Aurangzeb's father. He was passionate about building monuments. He used up the royal treasury to build lavish buildings. The unsuccessful expeditions could not fill the royal treasury. At this time,he built Taj Mahal and it depleted the treasury. It was for Mumtaj Mahal. He had planned to build another Taj(Black Taj mahal) in front of taj mahal for himself so it required large sum of money. Now Aurangzeb was going to be the king so he thought that if Shah Jahan used all the wealth then Aurangzeb would not be able to rule as a king without wealth is no one to rule.
