1. Though Aurangzeb was a military genius, he lacked the political skills of his forefathers.
2. He had reversed the policy of religious tolerance followed by the earlier Mughal rulers.
3. His intolerance, combined with many wars fought by him in order to expand his empire made the powerful regional groups like the Rajputs, Marathas and Sikhs his sworn enemies.
4. He concentrated more in expanding his empire than solving problems that were being faced by the common people. He was busy most of the time in fighting wars.
