When Beowulf heard how Grendel has been taking the lives of Hrothgar’s men he travelled to Heorot.
Beowolf’s primary aim in visiting Herot was to test and judge his skills and power to stand against monster Grendel.
This was to show that even Geat’s had the potential and strength to overpower Grendel.
