Bholi talk very little, As She was the fourth daughter of Numberdar Ramlal. When she was ten months  old, she had fallen off the cot on her head and perhaps it had damaged some part  of her brain. That was why she remained a backward child and came to be known  as Bholi, the simpleton.

Reason 1:- At birth, the child was very fair and pretty. But when she was two years old, she  had an attack of small-pox. Only the eyes were saved, but the entire body was  permanently disfigured by deep black pock-marks.

Reason 2:- Little Sulekha (BHOLI) could not speak  till she was five, and when at last she learnt to speak, she stammered. The other  children often made fun of her and mimicked her. As a result, she talked very little.

Answer:

Bholi talked very little because she stammered while speaking and she had smallpox marks all over her body and other kids used to mimic her and make fun of her.

Explanation:

Bholi was the youngest daughter of all seven children of Ramlal. Bholi talked little because of these two reasons:

  1. When she was a child she had fallen off her cot and hit her head because of which she stammers while speaking. She didn't even say a word till she was 5. When she joined school kids started making fun of her stammering voice which is one reason why bholi talked very little.
  2. She had an attack of smallpox which left ugly scars all over her body and due to her looks his groom asked for a five thousand rupees dowry to marry her then showing her courage and protecting her self respect she refused to marry him.
