The Bhumkal rebellion of 1910 was the largest adivasi rebellion of its time in Bastar. It symbolized the struggle of adivasis against an alien rule attempting to remould the adivasi pattern of life. Bhumkal rebellion fail:
- Rebellion was carried out as a protest to rebel against the colonial dictators.
- Tribes against the decision of the British government which was to take two-third of forest area.
- To reserve a large chunk of the Indian forest and put an end to shift cultivation, collection of produced from the forest as well as the activity of hunting.
- As a result, the area of forest reserved was minimised to half.
- The rebellion did not fail in the sense that it did not affect, but it could not stop the British from reserving forest land.
- The Bhumkal rebellion was one of the biggest tribal or Adivasi rebellions against the British which was started in the district of Bastar in the 1910s.
