The Britishers began to colonise India in the mid-eighteenth century because they wanted to establish trade relations in India and earn huge profit. They were attracted by the highly profitable trade of the Portuguese with India and other countries. Moreover, they also came to know about the richness of India in terms of raw materials and minerals which further led them closer to India.
