1. the sinhala community was in majority and imposed a dominance over the minority.
2. in 1956, an act was passed recognising sinhala as the official language.
3. the constitution simulated to foster and practise buddhism.
4. minority community was not allowed equal rights and equal oppurtunities.
5. this lead to conflicts and lead to civil war.
