in the story ON THE FACE OF IT written by susan hill ,
derry is small boy and his main problem was his burnt face . one side of his face was eaten up by acid. he suffered from a tremendous sense of inferiority complex he was always conscious that his face was terrible . and people were afraid of him . he tries t escape he himself gets alienated fro the world . this incident damages derry life so that he wasn't able to lead a happy life until he meet Mr.lamb who is an old person who is also an handicap but have a different way and a positive attitude toward life.
