1.The fertile soil in this region was best suited for agriculture

2.Rivers provided water for crops

3.Transportation was made easier by boats etc.

4.Rivers facilitated trade and commerce

5.Rivers provided some information about the seasons and events upstream

6.The power of flowing water could be used
