Why did East India Company appoint Gomasthas in India ?. (3marks)​

◾ Gomasthas were appointed as paid servant.

◾ East India Company appointed them to collect supervise weavers of India , collect supplies and examine the quality of cloth.

◾ They acted arrogantly, marched into the villages with sepoys and peons , punished weavers for their delays – often beating and flogging them.
