The eastern parts of india always had a goodamount of resources which was good but it was bad also because this reason led to various attacks on the princely states as various kingdoms wanted to merge the state into their kingdom as this would be helpful for them in growing their economy.
So, to protect the resources and states the east india always needed a well trained army to defend the kingdom or state
