Why did Egypt support the Palestinians during conflict?

Egypt supported the Palestinians in conflict with Israel because the majority of Egyptian population is Muslim and Israel is seen as anti- Muslim. Also, it has fought wars with Israel and hence in the conflict between Israel and Palestine, they supported the Palestinians.

• The political system of Egypt plays an important role in deciding whether the support is for Israel or Palestinians. There are two major groups of political parties in Egypt, that is the secular group and the other group is Islamic.
• One of the major political party called Muslim Brotherhood is a major supporter of Palestinian cause because of two reasons, first the religion and second that the ruling party of Gaza City is Hamas which is the political wing of Muslim Brotherhood.
• Also, all over the Arab world, Israel is seen as anti – Muslim and there is a general anti – Israeli sentiments there. Egypt has also fought four wars with Israel and therefore in a conflict between Israel and Palestine, they supported the Palestinians.
