It was an act of nonviolent civil disobedience in colonial India to produce salt from seawater, as it had been practised by the Indian people.  And so, Mahatma Gandhi declared resistance to British salt policies to be the unifying theme for the civil disobedience movement and thus started Dandi March.

✔here is ua answer:

The laws were so strict that if people living by the sea picked up a handful of sea salt lying on the sand, they could be fined. So that is exactly whatGandhiji decided to do; pick up salt from the seashore at Dandi and startthe Civil Disobedience Satyagraha. Themarch began on 12th March and ended on 5th April,1930.
