The story is about a scientist named Griffin. He was discovering ways that could make a man invisible, and then finally swallowed some rare medicine that made him invisible. Two boys first noticed him on the stairs of a house where they could only see his steps and begin to follow them. They follow her until her footsteps lighten and can't be seen. First, because it feels cold to enter a mall for some warmth. After the stores closed, he decided to put on some warm clothes and eat something.

First he takes some clothes out of their box and puts them on. Then from the restaurant kitchen he eats cold meat and some coffee. Later he went to a grocery store and ate sweets and drank wine. Then he sleeps on a pile of duvets. Then he wakes up in the morning when some helpers in the store saw him and started chasing after him. He quickly got rid of all the clothes he was wearing and became invisible again. Then he started walking around again without any clothes in the cold London winters.

Then he decided to steal clothes from a theater company because he knew he would get something there to cover his face as well. Then he steals face bandages, dark glasses, a false nose, and a hat to cover himself.

Then he hits the store owner and steals all his money. He soon realized that London was too crowded to live like this and decided he was going to a remote village. He booked two rooms in a hostel in Iping Village.

He has arrived and it is strange to the people of Epping that a stranger with such a strange appearance has come to stay in an inn during the winter. Once his money runs out, he steals from people and also hits the owner and his wife when they try to check his room in his absence. Then the village policeman is asked for help but before that Mrs. Hall, the owner's wife asks him questions regarding his identity and what he did with her furniture.

This makes him really angry and decides to show her who he really is. Then the people saw a decapitated man and Mr. Jafar, the policeman also found out that he would have to arrest a man without a head. They are unable to catch Griffin as he removes all of his clothes and becomes invisible. He even knocks Jaffers trying to catch him.
