*Helen, the ghost, had always helped John Hallock in writing ghost stories.
*However, this time, she revealed herself in front of John Hallock. This was because she and the other ghosts were quite fed up with the Ouija boards.
She refused to help John any more if he could not convince his friends and relatives to stop using the Ouija board.
*This encounter with Helen had quite drastic effects on John's life.
*He had to keep a secret from his loving wife Lavinia and he was very uncomfortable doing so.
*To add to his troubles, Lavinia bought a Ouija board and hosted a ouija party at their home.
*John, although reluctant, had no other option than to participate in the party.
*This was when his life was turned upside down. Helen refused to help him anymore. Lavinia doubted her husband's purity. His cook left him.
However, in the end of the story, all misunderstandings were cleared and everything returned back to normal
