helmuth's father's name was hugo. he was a nazi supporter. hitler had committed many crimes against humanity and all the while hugo was supporting him.
the world only came to know about Hitler's crimes after germany lost world war 2 under Hitler's leadership. anticipating what was coming, many nazis committed suicide thinking that it was better to kill yourself than to be severely punished and humiliated by the winners of WW2.

So he shoot himself in his office.
