British made the division before leaving and independence, jinna wanted a separate country for Muslims . this caused riots and ultimately division

It was decided that India would be split into two independent nations. Pakistan would contain the mainly Muslim regions of India, and India would retain the regions of Hindu majority.

India and Pakistan separated in 1947 due to Connflicts between Hindu and Muslims.
The people of both caste wanted to rule on India. And wanted to implement their rules and regulations. So after all this gandhji was decided to separated the both countries.
