Why did India opt for a democratic set-up?In your opinion how far have we succeeded in this respect?

The reason as to why India opted for the democratic set up was that they were initially the victims of colonization.

Therefore what happened was that they lacked knowledge to form another style of government.

The style they decided to take was that which was given to them under strict supervision from the British.
