As Regent, in Shivaji's absence, Jijabai took care of the Marathas soldiers. She was thoughtful and generous. She was afraid lest the soldiers should revolt. Therefore, she ordered to raise the pay and the rations of the soldiers. She also sent gifts to the soldiers' families. This she did with her private finances. As responsible ruler she wished to keep the priest and soldiers happy.
