Mahatma Gandhi decided to call off Non cooperation movement due to CHAURI CHAURA INCIDENT. People ( peasants ) of India created violence and killed 20 policeman which was against the ideal of Gandhiji. Hence he called off the movement .

Mahatma Gandhi called off the Non-cooperation movement due to the following reasons:
1) He felt that the satyagrahis needed to be trained properly for a mass movement
2) He felt that it was too violent and his principles never included violence
3) The Chauri-Chaura movement took place in which 21 policemen were killed because people set fire to a police station.
