Mahatma Gandhi started various movements such as the satygraha , Non cooperation and civil disobedience.
As we all know Mahatma gandhi was a supporter of Ahinsa and believed in it he could not digest the news and facts of violence and thus had to call of his movements in due course time .

Hi friend,
Gandhiji played a important role in freedom struggle of India but at same time he was a firm believer of Non-violence and preached the same.
Main reason behind Gandhiji calling off his movements is that he believed in ahimsa(non-violence) as these movements resulted in violence and killing of many innocent citizens.
