Answer:
Emboldened with success Gandhiji in 1919,decided to launch a nation wide Satyagraha
against the proposed Rowlatt Act. This Act had been hurridely passed by the Imperial Legislative Council despite the united opposition of Indian members. It gave the government enormous powers to suppress political activities and allowed the detention of political prisoners upto two years even without a trial. Gandhiji wanted a non violent civil disobedience against such unjust laws, which would start with the bartal on April 6.
