why did mahatma gandhiji give a yes for partition of India & Pakistan

Gandhiji didn't want a large scale communal people being dead by the riots that were going on before the partition.

After the partion hindus and muslims feared that that the other one will come into power and they will not get justice or eqality.So riots and masscre went on large scale.They communal violence was so large that gandhiji decided to give a yes to partition of INDIA.
