Why did Mahmud Ghazni attack India ?

Mehmud of Ghazni plundered India 17 times and he attacked different Indian rulers. His first attack was against King Jaipal of Sindh and Punjab. Subuktgin the father of Mehmud had also attacked Jaipal but war ended a draw. In 1000 AD Mehmud attacked Jaipal and defeated him

For 17 times, he attacked India during the period between 1000 and 1027 AD, a significant event in the history of India. Mahmud of Ghaznihad started his invasions in India during the period when the Rajput power had declined.
