Why did Mendel choose only pea plant for his experiments?(plz answer as soon as possible)

Mendal choose only pea plant for his experiment due to following reasons -
1. Many variety were available in alternative forms of a character
2. varieties were available in pure form that bred true
3. peas were normally self pollinated but self pollinated can be prevented by removing corresponding reproductive parts of the flower so could be cross pollinated also
