why did Mr bramble want to give up boxing

Mr. bramble think that his occupation is small bcoz it is a sports related occupation as he was a boxer.. he was thinking that there will be a very bad reflection on the studies of his son Harold. so he think that he should give up boxing bcoz if he would not give up boxing and starting fighting again , his photo will be on the front page of he newspaper...
