Mrs. Packletide faced the cameras with a light heart becasue though she had found the hunt had turned out to be a fake because of her misfiring, everything had been handled in her favor. She had initially been very dismayed on knowing the truth of the death of the tiger but, as the villagers were willing to lie inorder to gain the thousand rupees and Louisa Mebbin, being a paid companion, seemed obliged to keep her mouth shut, she found her aim achieved. It anyway did not concern her as such because all she wanted was to outshine Loona Bimberton through the news of her tiger-hunt splashing across magazines. The successfully manipulated situation allowed her to do so which was all that she cared for.
