Nicola and Jacopa were the two boys and they were brothers and lived in the city of Verona . Both worked hard day and night to earn lots of money . They did varieties of work such as shoe shining , selling fruits , hawking newpapers , bringing tickects of the opera etc., They earned a lot by doing these work but the spent less on them. The reason behind this was they both saved money for the treatment of their only surviving blood relative i.e, their sister Lucia . she was suffering from tubercolosis of spine due to the malnutrition because of the poverty . So the boys worked hard to earn money...

Nicola and Jacopo worked very hard because they had understood that nothing could be obtained easily nor for free in life, everything had to be hard worked for. This happened when their father passed away who was a great singer and an inspiration to his daughter. Their house had been destroyed and they had been thrown onto the streets. They joined the secret resistance and after returning from the war that they had won they found their sister suffering from tuberculosis of the spine. So they admitted her to a hospital but the hospital could not continue to have her until they charged a fee. So to pay the hospital charges and to keep themselves alive in the hard condition they worked so hard to earn money.
