1)USSR was already a permanent member by the time the sc was made in 1945.When the state dissolved into a congolomerate of smaller nations like Kazakhistan,Tajikstan etc NO OTHER STATE PROTESTED WHEN RUSSIA WAS OFFERED A SPOT IN THE SC.

2)It was the largest state in terms of area and economy to emerge from the breakup.

3)And...in addition, the history of the Soviet Union began in Russia.

If there was to be a successor to the Soviet seat on the Security Council among the former Soviet republics, these factors made Russia seem like a logical choice.
