After David's father's death his mother Clara Copperfield, who was meek, submissive and dependent lady wanted to marry Mr Murdstone. He seemed to be very kind and compassionate although he did not. Being son David could accept any new father other than his own. Moreover David wanted full share of his mother and no one else. He was happy to live with Peggotty and his mother. So according to the instruction by David's mother he was taken to Yarmouth to live in a month's time.
