The sepoys lacked one clear leader; there were several. They also did not have a coherent plan by which the foreigners would be routed. Indian rulers who aided the revolt did not envision any plan for the country after the British were defeated.

3. The revolt was restricted only to certain regions and it was not pan-india
4. Most of the landlords and businessmen helped british
5. Lack of proper planning and execution
6. Most of the rulers who revolted had individual motive, everyone participated in the revolt for different reasons (mainly to save their regional power)
