Sahadeva meets the same fate as Nakula because of Nakula and his twin brother Sahadeva who is the youngest of the five Pandava brothers. The twins are born to mother Madri, the second wife of King Pandu, but mythologically Nakula and Sahadeva are the sons of the Aswins, the god-twins. Due to a curse, King Pandu who could not produce heirs with his wives, so he encouraged them to invoke a special mantra that allowed them to have children with the gods of their choice. With the mantra, Madri was thought of as the twin Aswins, who come to her with speed begat upon her two sons whose named Nakula and Sahadeva.
