Answer:(1)- There was no british nation prior to the 18th century. The primary identities of the people in the British Isle were ethnic ones - English, Welsh, Scot & Irish.

(2)- All of these ethnic groups had their own culture & political tradition.

(3)- The act of union between England & Scotland resulted in formation of 'United Kingdom of Great Britain'.

(4)- Ireland had also suffered the similar fate. The english helped the protestants against the Catholic dominant Ireland.

(5)- A new British nation was forged through the propogation of dominant English culture.
