* Cheap labour was available in abundance and hence the wages were low and there was no problem in hiring labours.

* Machines produced only uniform goods but handmade goods were having different styles.

* Upper class - aristocrats and bourgeoisie preferred handmade goods because they symbolized refinement and class.
